Description
Additive Manufacturing for Quality Tools
3D printing or additive manufacturing, when applied to production applications, is a technology-driven innovation in manufacturing occurring throughout the supply chain. With advancements taking place in materials, machines, and software, this technology has made its way up the chain and closer to the end customer, which means additive requires the same quality systems put in place for traditional manufacturing. The goal of this workshop is to unite the worlds of additive and quality tools through a combined workshop.
This workshop is designed with the additive manufacturing and quality teams in mind and takes place in a classroom setting. It includes hands-on activities and covers topics including additive manufacturing strengths, limits, applications within manufacturing, and applying established quality tools to additive manufacturing methods.
Agenda
1. Discuss the primary additive technologies
2. Talk about materials and how each process works
3. Review manufacturing applications for each technology
4. Briefly review a variety of quality tools such as Pareto charts, Process Maps, and FMEA’s
5. Apply quality tools to additive processes through examples and activities
Intended Audience: Quality control managers and technicians; additive manufacturing managers and operators.
