The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs provide more than $4 billion annually in non-dilutive federal funding to help small businesses develop and commercialize innovative technologies.

In this introductory workshop, you’ll learn:

• What SBIR and STTR funding is (and isn’t)
• Which federal agencies offer funding
• What types of innovations are most competitive
• How the application process works
• Common misconceptions and reasons companies are or are not a good fit
• Resources available through the Indiana SBIR/STTR Program and the Indiana SBDC

Whether you’re exploring commercialization for the first time or evaluating whether federal R&D funding belongs in your growth strategy, this session will help you determine your next step.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for:

• Entrepreneurs developing a novel technology, product, software platform, medical device, advanced manufacturing process, or scientific innovation
• University researchers interested in commercializing research
• Startup founders pursuing technology commercialization
• Existing small businesses developing innovative products with significant technical risk
• Companies interested in pursuing federal research and development funding

This Workshop May NOT Be a Good Fit If…

This workshop is probably not the best fit if:

• You’re starting a traditional small business such as a restaurant, retail store, construction company, or consulting firm.
• You’re primarily looking for a business loan or startup capital.
• Your business does not involve developing a new technology or innovation.
