EP Youth Orchestras Spring Concert
Celebrate the next generation of orchestral talent at the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Spring Concert on Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at the Victory Theatre. This inspiring evening showcases the dedication, discipline, and artistry of our young musicians as both EPYO II and EPYO I take the stage in one of Evansville’s premier performance venues.
EPYO II, featuring 6th–8th grade musicians under the direction of Conductor Adam Clark, opens the program with a vibrant and engaging set of works, including Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture, the majestic Finale from Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, Glière’s spirited Russian Sailor’s Dance, and Soon Hee Newbold’s cinematic Warrior Legacy.
The program continues with EPYO I, comprised of 9th–12th grade musicians under the direction of Conductor Lee Veazey, performing Kabalevsky’s lively Overture to Colas Breugnon, Delius’ lyrical Intermezzo from Fennimore and Gerda, and Creston’s energetic Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra featuring Ross Erickson, EP Principal Percussion. The evening concludes with Chris Pilsner’s evocative A Light in the Ocean and the thrilling Finale from Franck’s Symphony in D minor.
