Evansville Philharmonic New Traditions Diversity Series Hosted By Wesselman Woods

Sunday, May 19 - 2 PM

The Evansville Philharmonic New Traditions Diversity Series will be hosted by Wesselman Woods, located at 551 N Boeke Road, on Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. This is a one-hour outdoor performance, so we encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.  No pets are  allowed. This event is free and open to the public.

Members of the Eykamp String Quartet (Jack Bogard, violin; Michael Chu, violin; Mark Hatlestad, viola; and Graham Cullen, cello) are joined by Monte Skelton, saxophone.

This Series is a musical celebration of underrepresented composers of diverse backgrounds. The programs are artistically driven by the Evansville Philharmonic Eykamp String Quartet, and over the last three years have featured composers of different ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation, genders, ages, and abilities.

Winner of the 2024 Willie Effie Thomas Diversity Award*, the Series partners with area organizations to bring music from underrepresented composers to diverse communities. The programs are held in public spaces and are free for everyone to attend.

*Willie Effie Thomas was a key figure in the civil rights movement in Evansville in the 50s and 60s.

New Traditions Diversity Series Concert Sponsor is Dick & Diane Arneson.
