The Evansville Philharmonic’s Season Ignites with Passion and Power
The Evansville Philharmonic opens its season at the Victory Theatre with radiant energy and heartfelt emotion. Tenor Demetrious Sampson, Jr.—whose electrifying encore of “Nessun Dorma” brought audiences to their feet in 2024—returns to deliver a spellbinding program that bridges the worlds of opera and Broadway. From Puccini’s impassioned “E lucevan le stelle” to the soaring hope of “Bring Him Home,” his voice will stir the soul and lift the spirit.
The evening also showcases the Philharmonic in a dazzling array of orchestral masterworks: Márquez’s fiery Conga del Fuego Nuevo, Stravinsky’s vibrant Firebird Suite, Mascagni’s tender Intermezzo, and Bizet’s sparkling Danse Bohème. Adding a profound dimension, Undine Smith Moore’s poignant Martin’s Song honors resilience and dignity through music.
With works spanning continents, eras, and styles, Opening Night celebrates harmony in every form—musical, emotional, and human. And yes—Sampson’s triumphant “Nessun Dorma” encore returns for an unforgettable finale.
