Buffalo Trace Council Announces New Scout Executive

Grant Reigelman began his new role on July 1

Evansville, IN - Grant Reigelman has been named the Scout Executive for the Buffalo Trace Council, the 15-county area serving nearly 2,000 youth in southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois.

Reigelman began his Scouting career in 2010 as a District Executive at the Conquistador Council in Roswell, New Mexico. He moved on to become the Associate Director of Program and then the Director of the Philmont Training Center in Cimarron, NM, followed by the Director of Logistics on the National Scout Jamboree 2021 Team in Irving, TX. Most recently he served as the Assistant Scout Executive of the Mid-Iowa Council in Des Moines, IA.

“Bringing quality Scouting experiences to youth and families in our region is something that the Buffalo Trace Council has excelled at for more than a century, and I’m looking forward to working with volunteers and staff to continue to build on that success,” said Reigelman.

Reigelman has been involved in Scouting his entire life. He grew up in a Scouting family and spent several of his childhood years living on Philmont Scout Ranch, where his father worked as Director of Program. He progressed through Scouting as a youth, earning his Eagle Scout rank and being named a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. Now he’s involved as both a Scouting professional and parent, as he and his wife Roni have two children, and the entire family is active in Scouting.

“Grant brings lifelong enthusiasm and knowledge to this role, and we are pleased to welcome him and his family to our community and to the local Scouting movement,” said Dr. David Hayhurst, President, Buffalo Trace Council. “Scouting America offers adventure, skill development and character-building opportunities unique to any other youth serving organization, and we are eager to see the program grow further with Grant’s expertise and leadership.”

John Harding, who most recently served as Scout Executive, retired in April after 39 years with Scouting America. Reigelman was selected by a committee of Council leadership and volunteers as part of a national search.
