New Airport Maintenance Facility Opens at EVV

The 43,000-square-foot facility project generated 229 direct and indirect jobs

Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) hosted local officials and community stakeholders on Monday to celebrate continued airport growth through the opening of a new state-of-the-art airport maintenance facility.

“We continue to invest in the future of EVV through our people, facilities and the level of service that we provide to our airport partners and the flying public, just like the maintenance team and new facility that we are celebrating today,” said EVV Executive Director Nate Hahn. “The new facility will streamline airport maintenance operations and its efficiency, while also improving the overall infrastructure at EVV for safety and longevity. We look forward to the positive impact the new building will have on our operations and long-term viability.”

The new 43,000-square-foot facility, located directly behind the EVV terminal, replaces a complex of smaller (25,000-square-foot), further-away and aging facilities that no longer accommodate the growing needs of the airport. The new building and its proximity allow the airport maintenance department to consolidate to one central location closer to the terminal building and offers the team and their equipment direct airfield access to better serve airport partners and the flying public.

Some of the unique facility features include overnight bunks for staff to stay during weather emergencies, shower and locker rooms, offices, conference and meeting rooms with a kitchen and expansive bays and storage for larger snow removal and other maintenance equipment.

The new facility, a two-year project totaling approximately $13.5 million, was designed and constructed by local firms CHA Consulting, Inc. and ARC Construction Co., Inc. and generated 229 direct and indirect jobs, including construction jobs, into the Greater Evansville Region.
